Five Home Improvement Projects for Under $500
Home improvement projects and repairs can turn a house into a home. However, it is sometimes hard to improve your home on a budget. Whenever I want to make my home a little better I visit one of my favorite home improvement sites. Online I find plenty of cheap DIY home improvement ideas.
Home improvement sites have both step by step instructions to print out and keep by your side as you accomplish your renovation, or how to home improvement videos to watch before you begin. I decided to put together a list of some of my favorite project that I found on various home improvement sites for the handyman or woman on a budget. Here are five home improvement projects that will make your home without breaking the bank.
1. Rock Your Bathroom…$450
Natural stone can look so simple and elegant. If you have been yearning for that classy look, granite vanity tops can provide it at a surprisingly low price. Granite counter tops can be purchased at Home Depot, Lowes, your local supplies store, or on home improvement sites for between $150 to $450. Purchase an affordable granite counter top along with a new faucet and mirror, and you should be able to stay under $500.
2. Light it Up…$180
Rail track halogen lighting is as affordable as it is decorative. The price of rail lighting has significantly decreased recently. Light up virtually any area in your home for under $200, and enjoy modern style, practicality, and the ability to see!
3. Everything in its Place…$100
One of the many great home improvement sites I visit turned me onto wire shelving for closets. For less than one Mr. Benjamin Franklin, a wire shelving unit can be easily installed and provide years of organization. It took me a total of one hour to install mine, and they have saved me hours of searching for lost belongings.
4. Extravagant Entrance…$200 or more
Landscaping of your front yard or entryway can be changed dynamically with just a few tweaks of nuance. Laying down a brick border for your garden or entry can brighten up the exterior of your home, and provide a solid, timeless look. A new house number and mailbox may really breathe new life into the front of your house as well (if they are within your budget). The most important lesson I have learned from home improvement sites is that subtlety can go quite a ways.
5. Roll Over, Cupboards…$40 to $80
Home improvement sites have made my life more convenient on so many levels (and in so many rooms). Create some more space in your cupboards and make things easier to access without kitchen rollouts. Of all the projects I have come across, kitchen rollouts were probably the cheapest and easiest.
